This year only 'flagship killer' Oneplus 2 After launching, now the company has a little affordable handset Oneplus x Has launched for Rs 16,999. At first glance, we can say that this is a mini version of OnePlus One. How is the performance of this handset? Let us know through the review.
Look and design
OnePlus X is slightly smaller than both the company's handsets, due to which it seems easier to use. The OnePlus X is also thinner, with reduced length and width. Due to the curved edge of the metal frame, glass back and glass front, the X handset is attractive in appearance and feels good in the hands.
The handset is available in Onix and Ceramic color variants. By the way, the price of ceramic color variants is Rs 22,999. It is possible that it is a limited edition device and not much information is available about its availability. We got the Onix variant for the review. Its metal frame is of gray color.
OnePlus X's backpanel is made of glass. The good thing is that the handset looks strong. There is a camera and flash on the left side in the top of the handset.
The frame of OnePlus X is of metal. A lined pattern is present throughout the device. The 3.5mm socket and secondary microphone have been replaced at the top. On the left is the notification slider and the speaker grill and USB port at the bottom of the handset. Power and volume buttons are present on the right side of the handset. The SIM tray is also on the right side of the handset.
Let us tell you that after unpacking the review unit for the first two hours we had a problem with the power and volume buttons. The power and volume buttons of the review unit we found were removed automatically. However, we fixed it after a while. We cannot say clearly that this will happen with every handset or it is a production flaw.
We liked the feature with the notification slider. This is a three-position switch so you can decide how many notifications you get. This feature may be very useful to many users, although it was not of much use to us.
OnePlus X has a 5-inch full-HD AMOLED screen, which we liked very much. It is very sharp, detailed and vibrant. It makes the eyes relaxed and it is easy to read on it even in sunlight.
OnePlus X comes with a Protector film given by the company. This is a commendable effort, as most people prefer to use the protector on the screen of their device.
Specification and software
The OnePlus X runs on a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset and is integrated for graphics Adreno 330 GPU. Even though the chipset is not the most modern, but its performance is good. The use of the old chipset in handsets released at the end of 2015 will raise questions, but we are satisfied with the performance of OnePlus X at this price.
OnePlus X comes with 16 GB of internal storage, dual-SIM connectivity, 3 GB of RAM and 2525 mAh battery. Sadly, the device does not support fast charging.
The handset is equipped with another version of the company's own Oxygen OS. There is an option to update the OS as soon as the device is connected to the Internet. Let us know that the latest Oxygen OS is based on Android 5.1.1.
Oxygen OS is very similar to the stock Android Lollipop. With this, the user gets an app permission screen through which they can define the permissions of each app.
OnePlus X has a 13-megapixel primary camera with F / 2.2 aperture. It also has a single-tone flash. The device has an 8 megapixel front camera with F / 2.4 aperture. With both cameras, the user can record 1080 pixels of video in normal mode. Slow-motion videos can also be recorded from the rear camera.
Its camera app is designed like Google Camera, but it also has some differences. You can easily set photo and video resolution.
The camera works fast. It is excellent in terms of color and lighting reproduction. Combination of shadows and sunlight in the outdoor shot was fantastic. Indoor photos were taken in good light and low light also. However, a closer look at the sample shot showed a lack of detail.
OnePlus X is a good performer. The robust chipset is also helped by 3 GB of RAM. Our test videos and games run smoothly on the device. However, the handset definitely warmed up while playing Angry Birds 2 and Dead Trigger 2. This also affected the battery.
The call quality of the phone was good. Connections to Wi-Fi and mobile networks also remained constant. The sound from the handset's speakers is a bit weak, although the output in the headphones is good.
In our video loop test, the battery of OnePlus X lasted for 11 hours 54 minutes. However, in daily use we are not as satisfied with the performance of the battery. The battery will last only one day. Battery does not drain much when making phone calls and messages, but compared to other devices, the battery drains faster on web browsing and playing games in this handset.
OnePlus made a lot of headlines in the smartphone world in a very short time. The company has so far introduced products whose specifications are flagship devices, but the price is extremely low. However, the quality and the invoice system of the handset have been continuously questioned. Despite this, the company has managed to attract the attention of the people.
Now the matter of OnePlus X. It is a good mid-budget device that gives strong performance with older chipsets. It also has a good look and gives a premium feel. However, questions arise on its build quality and lack of detail in the performance of the camera. The negative effect of overheating of the device is seen on its battery. If you manage to get an invite for the handset, then you will buy a Decent phone in terms of performance, look and software.
