Look and design
This handset looks very much like the Vibe K4 Note. With the phone, you will get a screen protector, plastic case, USB cable and headset. At first glance, the screen looks very big. The power and volume buttons on the right are slightly below our liking. Due to the presence of a hybrid SIM tray, you will be able to use either a dual SIM or a SIM and microSD card at one time. There is a 21-megapixel rear camera in the back and a fingerprint sensor below it.
The battery is fully sealed in the phone's aluminum unibody. The Vibe X3 is 9.3 millimeters thick at the center. It fits perfectly in the hands. Due to the weight of 175 grams, it will be felt to be heavy.
Lenvo has managed to harmonize between price and performance. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, Adreno 418 graphics, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage.
The dimensions of the screen are 5.5 inches and the resolution is 1080×1920 pixels. This handset seems to outperform the flagship devices of other companies. But considering the price, this decision seems correct. The 3500 mAh battery present in the device is expected to last a full day.
Lennovo has tried to make their vibe UI more clean which we liked. The new UI looks very much like stock Android. It also has a separate app drawer. You will also have the option of customization, such as a Quick Access toggle and a unique log feature that shows old notifications you have dismounted. We found the icon a little childish and you don't even have the option to change it. Many of Lenovo's apps will be pre-installed on the handset. The good thing is that you can remove most of these.
You also have many custom options. You can activate the phone by double tapping on the screen, or you can flip and lock it.
The Vibe X3 has a 21-megapixel rear camera equipped with phase detection autofocus. You can record videos of 4K resolution from it. The sensor of the front camera is 8 megapixels. Lenevo has promised that it has many features for photographers. Most of them are related to software interfaces, but we did not like them much.
Lenevo's custom camera app takes a little longer to load and has been made easier than necessary. The app automatically identifies the lights and shields itself. You can also disable it if you want.
Photo quality was generally good, but at times the daylight shots were more exposed and shaky. The colors looked quite dull. Low-light shots came out well. According to us, these are only for social media. On the other hand, 4K and 1080 pixel video crisps were shot.
The color of this handset of Lenevo was seen on the screen, vibrant and ingenious. There is no problem with outdoor visibility. Dual front speakers work well. They give a loud voice, but they are not very clear.
The Vibe X3 is comfortable to hold in hand. The handset gave excellent results in the benchmark test. The Vibe X3 battery lasted a day easily. In our video loop test, the battery lasted for 9 hours 33 minutes before being fully discharged, which is less than we expected.
Lenevo has given the best specifications available in the market very cleanly. Keep in mind that the price is less than Rs 20,000. The Vibe X3 seeks to beat the OnePlus 2, Moto X Play and Nexus 5X. This time the company has placed more emphasis on user experience. We are astonished by how much Lenvo has been able to offer in this handset at this price. It is clear that many specifics have been taken into account in making the device.
If the user experience matters the most, then Lenovo needs to make some further improvements. The Vibe X3 is very big and heavy, which means that it is not as easy to keep and use. The camera disappointed the most. Hybrid SIM tray also does not go in favor of this handset.
If you are ready to live with these advantages and shortcomings, then the Lenovo Vibe X3 is a 'money value' handset.
