LE 1S Review

LEECO (LETV) has also been included in the long list of Chinese companies that are trying their luck in the Indian market. The road ahead is not easy for the company. Neither is it the first company to come to India and no matter how much it reduces the price, it will not be the first company to do so. In-spite of this LE 1S I have a lot of interesting, especially to look at the budget range.

LEEco Has not focused only on the superb specification. He has also been trying to find things that the user likes, which is clear from the metal body of LE1S. Through LE Max, the company tried to compete with other flagship smartphones, though it was not completely successful. LEEco hopes that the LE1S will be liked by more users.

Look and design
There is a limit to use in terms of specification, so LEECO has tried to give premium material and good build quality in the budget smartphone segment. LE1S has almost exclusively used metal. Plastic is used only for antenna space.

The front face of this handset is quite slim. Black colored glass is on all four sides of the display. The front camera and sensor window are present on either side of the earpiece. Three standard capacitive Android buttons are given below the screen. These are backlit. LE1S manages to create a distinct identity of its own.

The primary camera and flash are on one side of the rear. There is also a fingerprint sensor in the center of the back of the handset. It looks good, but it slips a little. The company has not been able to work on its branding in India at the moment, which is probably why the review unit we got came with the logo of LeTV.

The power and volume buttons are on the right. At the same time, the slot for both SIMs is on the left side. Type-C USB port downwards. Its disadvantage is that you will not be able to use the USB cable commonly found with this handset.

Not everyone will like the gold color variant, but at the moment this is the only option on Flipkart. Its grip is good for a phone with a 5.5-inch screen, but will be difficult to use with one hand. The LE1S weighs 169 grams, but despite using it for a long time, it does not feel heavy in the hands.

Specification and software
LEEco has shown confidence in the MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) for this handset. It is a powerful chip. There is 3 GB of RAM available to make multitasking easier. Sadly, 32 GB of storage cannot be increased through microSD card.

The 5.5-inch screen has a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels which is common in today's price range. There is a 13-megapixel camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel sensor on the front. The 3000 mAh battery is non-removable. Both simcard slots will support 4G. It has Wi-Fi 802.11 AC, Bluetooth 4.1 and A-GPS connectivity features. You will not get FM radio.

The LE1S runs on the older Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and the company's EUI skin has been used on top of it. It has its own app drawer and does not have much customization options. The most difficult shortcut has to be dealt with and the quick settings are given in the app switcher screen.

There are not many apps pre-loaded in this – you will get Yahoo Weather and My LETV. The software has several drawbacks. There is no gesture shot nor the screen area of its display can be reduced from the settings.

We enjoyed using the LE1S on most occasions. It feels good in the hands, but its software experience did not meet expectations. We were glad that the phone did not heat up even after prolonged use. A slight warmth can be felt in its rear.

The screens are quite bright in indoor, but not very usable under direct sunlight. Colors are sharp and the viewing angle would be satisfactory. The speaker of the smartphone was very happy.

Pictures taken with the primary camera lacked details and appropriate exposure, but on most occasions the photos were good. Close up shots were the best. Low-light photos may have been liked at first glance, but when zoomed in, the reality was revealed. If you just want to share the photo on social media, then you will not have much problem.

The MediaTek Helio X10 chipset gave good results in the benchmark test. It is so clear that this phone will run without any problem in the case of gaming.

In the video loop test, the phone battery lasted for 7 hours 51 minutes. This will be called average. The LE1S battery will last a day. The good thing is that the handset has a quick charging feature.

Our decision
Even though LEECO has stepped into the Indian market of late, but the debut is fantastic. The company claims that it sold 70,000 units in just 2 seconds in the first flash cell. 6,00,000 people had registered for this flash sale. Since the launch of this handset in China, more than 3 million units have been sold in just three months. It is clear that there is no reduction in the demand for handsets.

This is a great time for Indian customers with a 'value for money' approach. You get a powerful and a great package with great specifications. The biggest challenge to this handset is from the recently launched Lenvo Vibe K4 Note. This Lenovo smartphone is a little weak in terms of specification, but for entertainment you also have the option to buy a VR headset. You can also consider Moto G (Gen3), if you are looking for more durable and better software than Look.

If you are ready to give a chance to a new company and want a phone with a premium look, then definitely take this handset. However, keep in mind that even if you get a high-end smartphone-like device in terms of look and specification, its performance is not necessarily like a high-end handset.
