NEW DELHI: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, accusing him of living in a “hollow world.”
At an election rally in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Priyanka referenced the recent arrests of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, criticizing the Prime Minister for what she termed as an “Opposition under attack.”
Addressing the public, Priyanka lambasted the BJP government, saying, “They made promises but did not fulfill them. They introduced the Agniveer scheme, which shattered people’s hopes. Papers are being leaked in every state. Farmers are protesting on the streets, but PM Modi is not willing to listen to them.”
Highlighting concerns over the state of democracy in the country, she urged voters to safeguard it, expressing mistrust in the electoral process, particularly in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). “The votes that you are going to put in will save the democracy of the country. You must be wondering how our democracy is in danger. It is because the big institutions that have been formed to strengthen democracy are getting weakened, they are misused. Today, the situation is that people do not even have faith in EVM,” she said.
Meanwhile, accompanied by Congress parliamentary chairperson Sonia Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka launched the party’s manifesto ‘Nyay Patra‘ in Jaipur on the same day.
“We named our manifesto ‘Nyay Patra’,” said Priyanka Gandhi in Jaipur, emphasizing it as the voice of a nation seeking justice. She further said, “Today, we are presenting our ‘ghosna patra’ to you all. We have given it the name ‘Nyay Patra’ to make it obvious that it isn’t just a list of announcements made before elections but the voice of struggle seeking justice now.”
